    Selam deyanira,

the reason we have different letters than you have is this is not english. We have the vowels that represents letters. We could sound ş like sh or ç as ch. But this is not a simplistic approach. To represent a sound as a letter is much simpler than writing it as a 2 letter.
Even we have letters that represents 2 letters we also have sounds that english speakers don’t have like “ö”.
You will get use to the letters soon. Don’t worry about it.

Selam everybody. I am so happy i found this site. I am trying to learn enough Turkish in time for February when i go and visit my boyfriend in Konya…even though he knows English i want to surprise him with my new vocabulary. I have been learning phrases and basic vocab but can’t wait to learn more.
Thank you for taking the time to set up this website and, more importantly, do it for free.
