ŞEY - THING

In Turkish, ‘thing’ is translated as ‘şey’ and you will see this word in many sentences.

You can understand this word very easily, if you know the function of the word ‘thing’ in your language.

In your own Turkish sentences, just remember: all the combinations with ‘şey’ are always written seperate! or lets say “leave a space between ‘şey’ and the other word(s)”

If you make a mistake, you don’t have to worry! Even most of the Turks are confused by some of the Turkish words about how they are written correctly. For example, if you ask a Turk which is true: ‘bir şey’ OR ‘birşey’, you will see the puzzled faces and most probably they would say “I’m confused about this alot of times too” lol you must think it’s a joke but as a matter of fact it is NOT!

So you should feel like that this topic will be helpful for all learners of Turkish who are confused by the use of the media or resources where they find.

Here we go with the most used examples:

- hiçbir şey = nothing

- herhangi bir şey = anything

- birkaç şey =  a few thing

- bazı şeyler = somethings

- bir şey = one thing

- her şey = everything, all things

- tek şey = the only thing

- merak ettiğim şey = the thing I wonder

- çok şey = many things

- az şey = little, small, little bit thing

- daha çok şey = more things

- daha az şey = less things

If you write what you wonder about, then later on we will have a very big list about this little word.
