The daily life speeches have a great size of “i want” and “i don’t want” . Today we gonna have a quick look
how to say i want to do something in Turkish
.
I want to do something : Birşey yapmak istiyorum.
Something : Birşey / to do : yapmak / I want : istiyorum. (I am wanting)
Let’s try i want to drink something : to drink :içmek
Bir şey içmek istiyorum.
Ne içmek istiyorsun? // Guess it.
Bira içmek istiyorum. : Bira: beer
I want to ride bicycle : Bisiklet binmek istiyorum.
Guess the word “to ride” in this sentence :
Koşmak istemiyorum : I don’t want to run.
//take a look at negative form present tense if you have problem with “istemiyorum.”
Su içmek istiyorum. (Su : water) do you understand what does it mean?
Try to make some sentences in the comments.

Posted 01 Aug 2008 at 3:13 pm ¶Once again about the “Ne icmek istiyorsun?” question:
I thought
Posted 04 Aug 2008 at 5:15 pm ¶“Kahve ister misin?”
would be correct. Thus I thought
“Kahve icmek ister misin?”
could also be correct…. Thus
“Ne icmek ister misin?”
could also be correct.
What was ist about this “mi/mu” rule for
questions? Something I apparently oversee
here. Can you help me?

First of all thank you very much for this website. its very helpful for me to remind Turkish again.
I must agree with Allie. especially for ppl speaking indoeuropean language Turkish is difficult. of course the grammar is very easy when you compare it to Arabic for example but the fact that the verb is at the end makes thıngs complicated, for me at least. watching tv and listening music didnt help me much…at least at the very beginning I recommend self studying or a course in Turkey. and dont follow my mistake. I have been talking to ppl in English and thats why after few months (with breaks) in Turkey I understand but I can’t speak
<— Yeah i have the same problems with learning languages when i try to learn it and stuck just turn into English all the time. Pimsleur Method is a nice one for verbal learning.
