“can NOT” form in Turkish language

As always my fellow friend Stefan, from Germany give me some examples about can and can not forms in Turkish. He is a really nice beta tester for Turkish. Anyway after i talk with him i understood that he is having problems with

CAN NOT in Turkish

issue. Thats my mistake i didnt tell you how

As you remember

To do : Yapmak

i can do : Yap+abilir+im

i can not do  yap+a+ma+m

-remember me,ma suffix is for negative forms from the tenses.

Lets try more

Kaçabilirim : i can escape

kaçamam. i cant run.

Main idea is this.

Verbs only take this conjugation for the first person; this is actually one of the rare irregularities in Turkish and is not the standard form. The potential marker is -a-, agglutinated to the verm stem, followed by -bil- for the positive (from bilmek, no vowel harmony) or the negative aorist, -mAz-. -mAz- undergoes a couple deformations in the first person to begin with: because -mAzIm- is difficult, we use -mAm- for the first person singular instead; and because -mAzIz- is difficult, we use -mAmIz- for the plural. Putting this together gives us the following:
    uyumazsın - You don’t sleep
    uyuyamazsın - You can’t sleep (you don’t be-able-to-sleep)
    uyumam - I don’t sleep
    uyuyamam - I can’t sleep
    uyuyamayız - we can’t sleep
It should be noted that the difference between Turkish present progressive -Iyor- and the aorists is a source of confusion for English speakers. To be clear, uyuyamam is more of a general statement of chronic insomnia, whereas a Turkish speaker is likely to say uyuyamıyorum, “I can’t sleep (I am being unable-to-sleep)”

is ‘uyumayabilirim’ also ‘i cannot sleep’?
    it’s all so confusing xD

uyumayabilirim<—– i may be not sleeping
as far as i can see the can-can’t lesson is a big problem for foreigners i will find some to teach it better…

What is the difference between Uyuyamıyorum
    and Uyuyamam?
    <—-
    actually

    uyuyamıyorum : i can’t sleep
    uyuyamam : i cant sleep

    but the difference is
uyuyamıyorum : the verb is done right now like : i cant sleep right now
uyuyamam : the verb is done continous as a habit like : i cant sleep since i was 6

    Thanks for your corrections!
    One question to the above:
    anlamadım: i did not understand.
but if I want to say “I cannot/am not able to understand”?
    Is anlamam correct?
    like yapamam
But you wouldn´t write it in this context, as you corrected it?
